The rules and protocols of the United States Senate are better explained here than the Constitutional law courses I read. You see the rules, the steps to get around them and how the protocol are supposed to be the guard rails. Even with all the detail, the book moves at a good pace and is a great read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This story picks up from the last book, The Senate Deception, with Jackson now in Colorado for the last few years since he lost his last election for Senator. Now it is time for the run up till the next presidential election. The incumbent POTUS is running and the other party field has dropped down to one candidate. Jackson is convinced to run, but this time he will run for the nomination as a candidate in both parties. The primaries arrive and Jackson is doing well and cutting into POTUs and the other party's lead. With Jackson gaining favor for both sides, the political parties both push thru a rule that will disqualify Jackson. As a result, Jackson and his team decide as a new party, the Bull Moose Party. Jackson is now running his campaign and he quickly overtakes the other party's candidate and is getting close to POTUS. Now POTU is becoming worried and begins using dirty tricks to slow Jackson down. The time for the election has passed and no one has gotten the required Elector votes. The decision will now fall to Congress on Jan. 6th. To discover what tricks POTUS's team does, how far another individual was willing to go on POTUS's ticket, what dangers Jackson's campaign has to overcome and what happened in the end, then you need to read this book. It shows how dangerous running for office has become and what new tools are available to hamper their opponents. It is definitely an eye opener."

“The story’s beginning opens in beautiful deep woods in the Colorado mountains with the main character, Jackson Piper, looking a bull moose in the eye. Jackson must decide the course of action he will take at the moment. This becomes the storyline’s theme whenever Jackson faces an intense and important crossroads where he alone must choose the next path. The 4-term former U.S. Senator is now a professor at a university living with his family in Colorado far from the political scene. Should he run against a firmly entrenched president and his questionable millionaire supporters? He is reliving the conspiracy that ousted him from Congress and trying to understand what exactly he is up against to run. Jackson and his family are managing not only politics and campaigning; but also personal attacks, physical attacks, and terrorist attacks making it difficult to determine who is a friend and who is a foe. Jackson has a strong female cast of characters supporting him, guiding him, and protecting him. His wife, Catherine, an oncologist is brilliant and strong; retired Pennsylvania Governor, Reese Tulson, an advisor and historian of politics; Valerie Lawrence, a Texas Governor who is a scrappy gun-carrying strategist; and Ziggy, the AI tactician who is an amazingly perceptive and well-informed.

I enjoyed the layered plots and the various characters involved with Jackson, especially the kick-ass women who are strongly behind the candidate. They are true female warriors and I appreciate the author’s inclusiveness of them. Each is described thoroughly, including their unique traits and expertise. However, the descriptions of the behind-the-scenes political maneuvering and extreme tactics involving leaders in the government were disturbing. The strategies were very believable and convincing which was indeed chilling. Parallels can be made between this futuristic time in politics and present-day politics. The story moved smoothly from politics to family and into intensely dangerous situations for the Piper family and their team.

This book may help birth another book or a series with the same interesting characters. It would be a great read for those who enjoy drama, suspense, twisty plots, and interesting characters. I gave it a 5/5 as I could not put it down.”
